GPS 2 Click is a compact add-on board that provides users with positioning, navigation, and timing services. This board features the L30, a GPS receiver module that enables fast acquisition and tracking with SIRFstar IV technology from Quectel. This small-form-factor L1 band module operates with a frequency of 1575.42MHz, alongside accuracy from 2 up to 2.5m, and fully addresses the demands of the lowest power consumption. Embedded active jammer remover guarantees operation even in hostile environments. High sensitivity during acquisition or while tracking allows for use in different backgrounds and under the most challenging operating conditions. This Click board™ is suitable for a broad spectrum of GPS applications where performance, cost, and time to market are prime considerations.
GPS 2 Click is supported by a mikroSDK compliant library, which includes functions that simplify software development. This Click board™ comes as a fully tested product, ready to be used on a system equipped with the mikroBUS™ socket.

GPS 2 Click is based on the L30, a GPS receiver module that enables fast acquisition and tracking with SIRFstar IV technology from Quectel. Its compact design provides outstanding GPS performance, low power consumption, supporting location, navigation, and industrial applications with autonomous GPS C/A and SBAS (WAAS and EGNOS). High sensitivity down to -163dBm for tracking satellites and the lowest Time-to-First-Fix will fulfil the most challenging requirements. The L30 supports the aided-GPS function, automatically capturing ephemeris data from satellites locally and predicting ephemeris over the next three days. Embedded active jammer remover helps the L30 to track and remove up to 8 CW (carrier wave) type signals up to 80dB-Hz, ensuring fast and accurate navigation.
This Click board™ communicates with a host MCU using one of the provided interfaces (SPI, UART, or I2C), with UART as the default communication interface. Note that all the jumpers' positions must be on the same side, or the Click board™ may become unresponsive. Although the L30 can only work with 1.8V logic, this Click board™ works with 3.3V and 5V with the help of the AP7331 voltage regulator. In terms of logic translation, the GPS 2 Click uses the TXB0106, a 6-bit bidirectional level shifter and voltage translator from Texas Instruments.
The GPS 2 Click features some functionalities in addition to the mikroBUS™ socket. Alongside the general reset feature, the ON pin, routed on the AN pin of the mikroBUS™ socket, is used for the ON/OFF feature of the L30 module. There is also an INT pin for the interrupt function and a WUP pin routed on the PWM pin of the mikroBUS™ socket, which with its logic high state, performs the wake-up function or enters software backup mode according to datasheet documentation.
The GPS 2 Click also features an SMA connector with an impedance of 50Ω for connecting the appropriate active antenna from our offer for improved range and received signal strength. In addition, the PPS LED next to the SMA connector serves as a connection indicator. It will start flashing when the GPS receiver connects with the satellite constellation.
This Click board™ can operate with both 3.3V and 5V logic voltage levels selected via the PWR SEL jumper. This way, it is allowed for both 3.3V and 5V capable MCUs to use the communication lines properly. However, the Click board™ comes equipped with a library containing easy-to-use functions and an example code that can be used, as a reference, for further development.
